Square footage for countertops is obtained by multiplying the length and width (in inches) of the countertop. The total is divided by 144 to get square footage. Please note the total square footage should always be rounded up to the next whole number to compensate for waste.
In the example below, the countertop consists of three pieces which were each measured separately and then added together.
Calculating Linear Footage
A LINEAR FOOT is simply the length of the finished edge of any given countertop. Total linear footage is calculated by adding all exposed front edges of the countertop and dividing the total by 12 to obtain the total linear foot.
