The Top 5 Ways to Add Value to Your Home
If you’re looking for ways to increase the value of your home and know that your money is being well spent, well you’ve come to the right place. Adding value to a home isn’t about spending a ton of money, it’s about spending in the right places. It’s about spending effectively and wisely. When you’re working on adding value to a home, it’s important to make sure that you’re spending smart.
According to TLC there are five main areas you should focus on.
1. Kitchen – Your kitchen is the heart of your home. It’s the central hub. And for most families, the kitchen is the place they spend the most time together. Your kitchen should be warm and inviting and it should feature products other home buyers want such as granite or stainless steal. A well-planned kitchen remodel can give you anywhere from 80-100% ROI when selling a home and can be the reason your home is chosen to begin with.
2. Bathrooms – Bathrooms are considered to be sanctuaries in homes. More often than not, home owners tend to forget about their bathrooms only remember, but it’s not a room you want to leave out. By adding an additional bathroom to your home, or upgrading current bathrooms you’re sure to see a ROI of at least 80 to 90%.
3. Curb Appeal - Many people neglect the front of their home, thinking the interior features will do the work for them. But didn’t momma always say that you only have one chance to make a first impression? The front of your house is the first thing buyers will see and needs to stand out.
4. Home Office – With more and more companies looking to reduce costs and more Americans looking for ways to save money and be more green, working from home has become the norm. This being said, it is important to provide the buyer with a space to work. By creating a in-home office you’re providing home buyers with an easy-to-visualize space as well as providing yourself with a tax-deductible space.
5. More Light and Space – Dark cramped spaces are rarely conducive to a good mood no matter where you are and this same theory applies when it comes to your home. By creating open and inviting rooms you’re sure to increase the value of your home. If you can’t afford to widen doorways or add windows, making sure the furniture is the right size for your room is a perfect way to ensure that your space feels more open and airy.
When you decide it’s time to sell, make sure to keep these five tips in mind and head over to Construction Resources. We have everything you need to remodel your kitchen, bathrooms or anywhere else in your home and we would love to help you make your perfect space a reality. Don’t delay, head to one of our Atlanta kitchen and bath supply stores today!
Atlanta Kitchen Contributes to Phoenix Pass
Construction Resources knows it’s not only good to be environmentally responsible, but socially responsible as well. That is why the company spends a lot of time giving back to the community through its relationship with HomeAid Atlanta.
The most recent project was just completed in Rockdale County. Atlanta Kitchen provided vanity tops for eight apartment units at Phoenix Pass, a project we worked on in conjunction with HomeAid Atlanta. Phoenix Pass just celebrated the grand opening of these single family apartments in Conyers which will provide help for temporarily homeless women and children. The apartments are designed to feel like home with a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Residents can stay up to two years, and will receive help with budgeting, job training and guidance in family care and management.
This apartment building is EarthCraft certified, meaning it meets stringent environmental and energy standards. Another apartment building is planned, which will also be EarthCraft certified.
The transitional housing will be a great asset to the Rockdale County area and Construction Resources is proud to be a part of the project.
Get Your Green Countertops from Atlanta Kitchen
These days, many businesses, corporations and individuals are placing a lot of emphasis on going green. It’s an important movement, and one that Construction Resources fully supports. For this reason, the kitchen and bath supply company offers a myriad of green products for consumers to choose when remodeling their home. One of the most elegant and luxurious green products we offer are the Cambria quartz countertops.
Of course there are many reasons to choose Cambria quartz in addition to the fact that they are eco-friendly. Cambria is a stain resistant, nonporous surface that is stronger, harder and easier to care for than other stone surfaces. Cambria is certified by NSF International as safe for use as a food preparation surface. Produced in the United States, Cambria surfaces have a lower carbon footprint than others, requiring less transportation and carbon resources in route to market. Cambria is GREENGUARD for Children and Schools® certified and GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. Cambria also does not contain formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds or radon emissions.
While remodeling your kitchen and home this spring, take Mother Earth into consideration when purchasing your products and materials. If we do not start treating the earth better now and conserving resources, then our future generations will suffer greatly.
Atlanta’s Buck Belue Recommends Cambria Quartz Countertops
680 The Fan is Atlanta’s sports radio station, and one of their most popular on-air talents is none other than Buck Belue. Buck and John Kincade keep you entertained every afternoon while sitting in rush hour traffic. Of course, his stint on Atlanta’s longest running sports show is only a tiny fraction of his experiences in the world of sports. He is truly a sports icon – extremely accomplished in both football and baseball, helping to lead the UGA Bulldogs to the 1980 National Championship while playing quarterback from 1978 – 1981 and also playing professional baseball for three years after college (among many other achievements). So, who does Buck Belue trust with his kitchen renovations? None other than Atlanta Kitchen.
He knows when you are on the field, it is your team that makes you look good. The same thing can be said for any kitchen remodeling project – you need to make sure you have the best team working with you when it comes to laying down your countertops. Atlanta Kitchen has been installing countertops here in Atlanta for over 40 years, and they use the best quality materials available. In fact, they were the first company in Atlanta to install Cambria Quartz countertops.
While many people think that granite is the best surface for countertops, Buck Belue knows better. Cambria Quartz is the finest countertop surface available. Cambria is 93% quartz, twice as strong as granite and will last far longer than other stone and laminated countertop materials. In addition, quartz requires no maintenance and is the most stain resistant countertop on the market. When it comes to design options, you have nothing to worry about as Cambria comes in 64 different colors. And, to top it all off, Cambria quartz is made in the USA, so you know you are supporting local fabricators.
Save on the Colors of Spring
The first day of spring is this weekend, and while we hope it means the cold winter days are behind us for good, we know it is time for spring cleaning and remodeling. To help celebrate the new season, Atlanta Kitchen is offering a special on their Cambria quartz countertops, which, if you recall, was recently named a “Best Buy” in countertops by Consumer Digest magazine.
Since it is a promotion to celebrate the season, only the colors of Spring are being offered at a discounted price – only $55 per square foot! While the promotion is limited to only three colors, Victoria™, Cranbrook™ and Cardiff Cream™, they are very different and will fit a wide variety of themes. So whether you are creating a sleek and modern look or a country setting with your Atlanta kitchen remodeling project, one of these three colors will fit in perfectly.
The promotion is the perfect opportunity for you to upgrade your kitchen with a countertop that you may not have been able to afford otherwise. For roughly the same price you would spend on granite surfaces, you can get a step up in quality and product. You’ll find many similarities between Cambria quartz countertops and granite. Cambria is stain-resistant and, like granite, can withstand high temperatures, but it is harder, stronger and easier to care for. Another big difference between the two materials is that Cambria quartz countertops are eco-friendly. They are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® and GREENGUARD for Children and Schools Certified®. In addition, there is no safer surface available to consumers as Cambria is also certified by NSF International as safe for use as a food preparation surface. Now that you can afford it, there is no reason you shouldn’t choose Cambria quartz countertops for your new kitchen.
So, take a little time to enjoy the new season, and then head to Atlanta Kitchen, Inc to pick out your affordable Cambria quartz countertops and get started on your new kitchen!
Cambria Quartz Countertops are a Best Buy
The March/April 2010 issue of Consumers Digest has a special section devoted to smart kitchen makeovers. Part of this feature includes a list of “Best Buys” in countertops. They covered every kind of countertop you can think of, from laminate to stone and everything in between. They also have the best buy for the premium selection, mid-range selection and economy selection for each category.
Coming in as the “Best Buy” premium selection for Stone & Solid-Surface Countertops is Cambria Quartz at $78 per square foot. When it comes to luxury countertops for the kitchen, hardly anything tops Cambria. Cambria quartz is a stain resistant, non porous surface that is harder, stronger and easier to care for than other stone surfaces because it does not require sealing with chemical-based conditioners, polishers or wax. As an added bonus, Cambria is certified by NSF International as safe for use as a food preparation surface. And the absolute icing on the cake – Cambria quartz countertops are eco-friendly!
When it comes to the competition, Cambria is in a league all its own. They have at least 20 more colors and patterns than any other quartz countertop brand in the same price range and offer a much better warranty.
Atlanta homeowners looking to find this “Best Buy” should look no further than Atlanta Kitchen. Not only does Atlanta Kitchen carry a wide selection of Cambria Quartz countertops, but they are Georgia’s only Preferred Cambria Lexus Partner. Basically, you won’t be able to find these luxury countertops at any other supplier in the city.

Florida Bath & Surfaces Helps Out Extreme Makeover Home Edition TALLAHASSEE - Hundreds of volunteers helped build a home for a couple who adopted six special needs children from China, and eight of those good Samaritans were from Santa Rosa Beach.
Bob Schoen and seven others from Florida Bath & Surfaces, Inc. created kitchen and bathroom countertops on the fly for the new home during a late-February taping of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Usually, Schoen said it takes about a week and a half to create a template for countertops and fabricate them. This time, they created the tops off of designer renderings, installed them from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. one morning and adjusted imperfections in the field.
"It was definitely a little more difficult," Schoen said. "But there was total cooperation."
Schoen said usually if trades have to work "on top of each other" in a home being built, people can get "ornery."
"That wasn't the case here," Schoen said. "We had 50 to 60 people in the house at once and everyone was pitching in. We knew it was a good thing."
The Cambria quartz kitchen countertops and LivingStone bathroom countertops would have normally cost about $12,000. The companies donated their material for this build, though, and Schoen and his crew donated their time.
"When we told the company and our folks about it, there was nothing but excitement," Schoen said.
Sadly, the father of the group, George Kadis, passed away from brain cancer since the taping of the show.
"He knew his family would be taken care of," Schoen said. "He knew they'd have a home."
The "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" episode featuring the Kadis family will air on ABC on April 12. Check local listings for times.
